Ariel Haven is part-Gardnerian and part-Icaral. Her mother is a Gardnerian, but it is unknown what species her father is.
Physical Appearance[]
Ariel has black hair that is chopped very short and stands out at odd angles in greasy-looking spikes. Her eyes are darkly rimmed with black kohl, making her pale green eyes seem almost white. Like all Icarals, she has black wings. Her wings are ragged and torn.
Ariel dresses in complete, screaming defiance of the Gardnerian dress code. Instead of a tunic, she wears a tight black top that is laced haphazardly up and down her back. The lacing makes room for her wings. She wears pants and large clunky boots.
Personality[]
While coming across as wild, manic, and evil at first, Ariel is actually loving and loyal. The way she is treated by others has profoundly affected her personality. She is laughed at and ridiculed wherever she goes. People refuse to even look at her. She never hears a kind word from anyone except from Wynter and Professor Kristian.
Biography[]
Early History[]
Ariel had an abusive and terrible childhood. Her father left her wings intact to punish her mother for being unfaithful. She was kept in the Valgard Sanitorium from a young age. While locked up there she was put on nilantyr, a powerful sedative, when she misbehaved. This has left her addicted to the drug. The drug took away her ability to fly. It also causes a foul odor that seeps out of her skin, even if she has not taken the drug in a while.
The Black Witch[]
She was almost expelled from Verpax University for setting fire to someone. If she hurts any scholar again she will be arrested, expelled from Verpacia, and sent back to the Sanitorium. They will cut off her wings and Ariel will spend the rest of her life in a cell. This is her worst fear.

- As an Icaral, Ariel can summon fire. Because of the nilantyr, she is losing her ability to summon fire.
- She can mentally communicate with other winged animals
- She is also a talented animal healer.
Relationships[]
Wynter Eirllyn[]
Wynter is Ariel's closest friend. Ariel views herself as Wynter's protector and doesn't want to leave her.
