Geoffrey Sykes is Gwynnifer Croft's best friend and fastmate.
Physical Description[]
As a young teenager, Geoffrey is skinny with ears that stick out. His whole body practically vibrates with pent-up energy. He has a wide grin. Like all Gardnerians, Geoffrey has black hair, green eyes, and pale skin that has an emerald shimmer. When he is older, Geoffrey becomes a long beanpole. He is tall and slender. His ears still stick out from his tousled black hair. He's quite attractive. He has a smile that is wide, bright, and playful. Geoffrey wears the dark gray Gardnerian military apprentice uniform. Once he becomes a full soldier, he wears a black military tunic with a white bird embroidered on the chest marking him as one of those most loyal to Marcus Vogel. His tunic's shoulders are marked with his division's Ironflower insignia.
Personality[]
Geoffrey is self-assured and confident. He has an overabundance of energy. He likes to tease others good-naturedly. Geoffrey iis friendly.
Biography[]
Early History[]
Geoffrey lives in Valgard with his family. His father's guildmarket is next to the biggest candy store in the city, so he always brings Gwynn candy. He has a large extended family. His family is part of the Styvian sect of Gardnerians, which are the most strict adherents to the Book of the Ancients.
Light Mage[]
Sage Gaffney meets Geoffrey when she arrives in Valgard to be wandfasted to Tobias Vassilis. Geoffrey is being fasted at the same time to Gwynnifer.
Sage spends the night of the fasting ceremony at Gwynn's house. Geoffrey stops by outside Gwynn's window by climbing a tree. They tell Sage that he and Gwynn were forced to be fasted after they were discovered by their parents at the bay one evening. They were there gathering stones to make counter-runes, but their parents thought they were kissing. Geoffrey tells Sage that when they turn eighteen, and he will become responsible for Gwynn, he will let her go where she likes because he doesn't like bossing people around.
Years later, Geoffrey attends Verpax University as an apprentice cartwright in the Mage Guard.
The Iron Flower[]
Geoffrey is now part of the Mage Guard's Third Division. Geoffrey attends a service being held in Valgard Cathedral that is led by High Mage Marcus Vogel. His fastmate Gwynn is also in attendance. Unlike Gwynn, Geoffrey does not notice that Vogel has the Shadow Wand.

Gwynnifer Croft[]
Gwynn and Geoffrey have been best friends almost their entire lives. As they get older, their friendship changes into a romantic relationship. They truly do love each other, and are well-suited to being together. Gwynn finds him to be "wonderful and handsome."[1] Geoffrey adores Gwynn, and his eyes light up every time he sees her. Gwynn looks forward to having children with him.
